OPTION 1: BIAS BINDING BIBS

Today, my baby boy just started eating solid food, so the need for bibs has suddenly became a major issue at home!
I bought some from the shop, but they ripped apart after the first use! So, I decided to create my own pattern, and to see how we can make our own baby bibs, that will be not only better quality that the ones from the industry, but also Eco-friendly, as we can use a variety of materials for bibs: towels, shower curtains, old clothes, remnants and leftover from previous projects... the choice is yours!
I've used an old towel and some remnants, you will also need bias tape and a bit of Velcro or snaps, and we're good to go! To download your free pattern, please become a member and you can access all my PDF patterns for free! https://www.seweasypeasy.com/members
Now, you need to prepare your pattern, and when it's ready, you will use it to cut one of your main fabric and one of your towel , and 2 bits of Velcro if you're using it/ use one or two pairs of snaps if you prefer
Then, sew your Velcro, the soft bit on the towel, the hook bit on the main fabric like so:
If you're not too sure where to put the Velcro, trace the seam allowance on your bib to make sure it will be placed just right. Here is a close-up of what I mean:
Then, stitch both wrong sides together. I used a quarter of an inch, but 3 eighth will be just fine if you're a beginner.
When you're done, time to pin the bias binding to your bib, all the way round, making sure you leave about an extra inch like so:
Then, take the extra binding tape and fold it over itself like so:
Then, you want to stitch your bias binding. Unlike most tutorials, I will strongly advise to use a zigzag stitch so any raw edges that wouldn't have been properly enclosed in the bias binding will still be finished. It looks lovely too, just take a look by yourself:
And you are all ready! Those bibs are the perfect gift for a baby shower, a new mother or just for yourself, we never have too many of those do we?
